Our Story
Compact Cottage began with a simple idea and a bold question:
How can we make a prefabricated house affordable, accessible, and not-so-tiny?
How It All Started
Six years ago, we began marketing our cottage-style homes. We quickly discovered a major challenge—installing them in the U.S. was nearly impossible. There were no universally accepted building codes, and building to local codes would often triple costs and delay approvals for months.
The breakthrough came when we asked a different question:
Why not build our homes on a movable chassis and title them as RVs?
That idea led to a new category of housing we call an MDU (Mobile Dwelling Unit)—not a tiny home, not an RV, and not a mobile home. Instead, it’s a true small home designed to eliminate the need for foundations, permits, and long construction timelines. This allows our homes to be placed on vacant land, in RV communities, or anywhere RVs are permitted.
Our homes are delivered by standard pickup as self-contained, fold-out units that set up in just a few days. They cost less than many new cars and offer something traditional homes can’t—mobility. When life changes, your home can move with you.

With 42 years of business experience, Bill leads Compact Cottage with a strategic mindset. He brings a deep understanding of operations, financial management and real estate development to the company.
Bill is known for his logical approach and his unwavering commitment to customer service. Breakstone Capital, Inc has been in business since 1997 and specializes in real estate investments, manufactured home and RV park development. Compact Cottage represents a dream of building an alternative housing business that creates long term community impact.
Gabe Breakstone
COO - Sales & Marketing
Gabe brings a unique blend of financial expertise, housing industry experience, and marketing insight to Compact Cottage. After earning his MBA from Florida State University, Gabe began his career in manufactured housing — working with one of the largest companies in the sector, where he handled commercial sales and financing for mobile home park owners across the country.Since then, Gabe has worked inside global marketing agencies, gaining experience across corporate finance, operations, and brand development. Today, Gabe helps lead Compact Cottage with an eye for growth, a deep knowledge of the prefabricated housing landscape, and a belief that good business should always create good living.
